Smelting furnace structure
Silicon carbide smelting furnace mainly has the following parts: end wall, electrode, hearth, side wall and pillar,
end wall
The end walls are located at both ends of the hearth, in which the electrodes are installed. The end wall is a part of the material holding volume, and supports and protects the electrode from oxidation. It is required that the end wall has a firm structure, high temperature resistance and oxidation resistance, and does not tilt outward or deform under the thermal expansion pressure of the charge. It is also required to be airtight to prevent electrode oxidation.
Usually the end walls are made of refractory bricks (or prefabricated concrete), carbonaceous masonry, and fastened with steel frames. If concrete prefabricated parts are used, they are generally built in the external low temperature parts. There are many types of carbon masonry. There are also those that use charge instead of carbonaceous masonry. This structure saves carbonaceous masonry materials, the electrode allows a larger consumption length, but the charge transportation volume is slightly increased.
electrode
The electrode is usually built in the center of the end wall, traversing the inside and outside of the end wall, and it transmits powerful electric energy to the furnace. The electrode should have good electrical conductivity, high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, and certain mechanical strength.
Hearth
Hearth can be divided into three types according to its shape: rectangle, trapezoid and arc. According to its performance, it is divided into permeable hearth and airtight hearth.
side wall
The furnace walls on both sides of the furnace are called side walls, which can be dismantled for holding materials and heat preservation. It is required to be firm, able to withstand general impact, able to withstand the pressure in the furnace, not deformed at a temperature of 800~200 ° C, and has good air permeability. There are ventilation holes, accounting for 6% to 7% of the furnace wall area.
For large and medium-sized furnaces with rectangular hearth, the side wall is divided into upper and lower sections, and the lower section is a part of the hearth.
Trapezoidal and arc-shaped hearths have only one side wall of the furnace, and insulation between the furnace walls is required.
According to different structures, there are many kinds of side walls: steel framed refractory brick furnace wall, steel frame welded steel plate furnace wall, cast iron furnace wall, heat-resistant concrete furnace wall, refractory brick furnace wall, etc.
