Liquid steel vacuum treatment
Liquid steel vacuum treatment
An out-of-furnace refining technology for smelting molten steel under sub-atmospheric pressure. In general, only when the pressure on the surface of the molten steel is lower than 100Pa can a significant treatment effect be achieved.
Metallurgical effect
(1) Remove the gas in the steel, reduce the occurrence rate of hairlines, hydrogen-induced cracks and layered fracture defects in the steel, thereby improving the mechanical properties and processing properties of the steel.
(2) Homogenize the composition and temperature of molten steel to ensure the smooth progress of the continuous cast steel and ironmaking process, and to obtain cast slabs with excellent surface and internal quality.
(3) Precisely control the composition of molten steel. In order to reduce the fluctuation of the mechanical properties of the steel, the content of the alloying elements in the steel is required to be accurate. The general standard error is: C ± 0.01%, Mn, Si, Cr ± 0.03%; in order to accurately control the hardness of the steel, the standard error of the required composition is: C ± 0.01%; Si, Mn, Cr ± 0.02%. Ni, Mo±0.01%, Al±0.0025%. This stringent requirement for ingredients can only be achieved by out-of-furnace refining.
(4) Decarbonize to a very low degree (C<0.01%) to improve the deep drawing performance, electromagnetic and corrosion resistance of steel, which is more important for chrome-nickel stainless steel.
(5) Remove phosphorus and sulfur to a very low level to improve the impact properties of steel, reduce layered fractures, eliminate temper brittleness, and continuous casting | rolling billet surface defects.
(6) Controlling the shape of sulfide and oxide inclusions can reduce the directional difference of mechanical properties, prevent hydrogen-induced cracking and nozzle blockage in the pouring process.
(7) Use vacuum ingot casting and vacuum protection pouring to prevent secondary oxidation of molten steel.
